In this full-length interview, one of the greatest R&B singer/songwriters of all time, Smokey Robinson, details his upbringing in Detroit, where he lived in a packed house. He spoke about being one of 11 kids in the house, most of whom were his nieces and nephews who, due to closeness in age, were more like his siblings. He also discussed his father’s journey out of Selma, Alabama, into Detroit after stabbing a white kid who bullied him for years and fleeing town at only 12 years old. Moving along, the legendary R&B singer recalls starting a vocal group in elementary school and later forming his first official band, The Five Chimes. He goes on to explain what inspired the group's inception before saying that they eventually evolved into The Miracles. As the discussion continues, he talks about growing up with a young Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin as his childhood neighbors.Later, Smokey Robinson talks about growing up in Detroit when many of his friends were dabbling in criminal mischief and gang activity. He also talks about the experience of his former group, The Matadors, auditioning for Jackie Wilson's manager. The Motown legend explains that although the audition didn't go for the group, it served as his personal introduction to Barry Gordy, Jackie Wilson's primary songwriter. As the conversation nears an end, he looks back on the first time he retired, the events leading up to recording his first album, being the Vice President of Motown Records. He also shares his thoughts on Michael Jackson's early releases as a solo artist before touching on his friendship with the late Rick James and the tragic murder of Marvin Gaye.

With interest rates at a 22-year high, Michael Pugh says Black business owners crunched for cash should look to community-based financial institutions for help.“Learn more about them; we have a very different scope [regarding loan arrangements],” Pugh, the CEO of New York-based Carver Federal Savings Bank, tells Forbes of community banks. “We have to make sure we extend our arms and get out there and tell people what they need to know to start achieving that generational wealth.”August is National Black Business Month, and ForbesBLK is highlighting the theme with special discussions about sustaining and expanding Black firms. Based in Harlem, Carver is one of the largest Black-run financial institutions in the U.S., celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2023. The bank is named after George Washington Carver and trades on the NASDAQ. Pugh was named CEO in 2012.Black businesses generated $206 billion in annual revenue and supported 3.56 million U.S. jobs in the last decade, according to the non-profit Brookings Institution. However, though Black people comprise 14.7% of the U.S. population, the community represents 12.4% of sole proprietorship and only 2.4% of employer businesses. Brookings said the stats show “disparities” that hold back Black entrepreneurs and “restrict economic opportunities for entire communities, which in turn impacts local prosperity.” Brookings also notes that access to sufficient capital remains a lingering issue for Black-owned businesses. That causes entrepreneurs to rely on personal funds and credit cards to finance operations.

In addition to Paul's upcoming war against House Harkonnen, Dune: Part Two will also further explore the Fremen and Chalamet's new position with them. Dune's ending sees Paul fully adopted into a Fremen tribe, setting off across the desert with Zendaya's Chani, who is confirmed to have more screen time in the sequel. On their journey, it seems like more of Arrakis will be explored, including new Fremen communities, which could be where the new sets that Villeneuve described come into play.

While Dune sets the stage and establishes the dangers and beauty of Arrakis, Dune: Part Two will seemingly further explore the planet and all that it has to offer. The visuals in the first Dune were a major highlight, making Villeneuve's comment about the increase in IMAX footage especially exciting. While many questions remain about Dune: Part Two, the film is already shaping up to be a truly epic affair, potentially even exceeding the first film in many ways.
