The Morehouse and Spelman College Glee Clubs welcomed The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square for a special concert at the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Chapel on the Morehouse campus in Atlanta on Monday, September 9, 2024.

This concert marked the second time that the Choir and the glee clubs have come together in celebration of the power and joy of music. In October 2023, the Choir hosted the glee clubs in Salt Lake City, where the groups performed on the Choir’s weekly broadcast of “Music & the Spoken Word.”

“This friendship just gets stronger, and you could see it today,” said Choir President Michael O. Leavitt. “When the Spelman Glee Club came [into the auditorium], there was this sense of spontaneous applause among the sisters who were in the Choir. And you could see that was the result of bonding that occurred when they were together.”

He continued, “I think this is just another step in an emerging, ongoing friendship that will have great value both to these colleges and to the Tabernacle Choir and the world.”

The final night of Season 21 auditions is here — with all 10 Golden Buzzers already used, the judges had to get selective, leading to a new Judges' Callback Round.

Highlights include Pynk Beard, a songwriter behind hits like Alessia Cara's "Scars to Your Beautiful," wowing the judges with an original country song that Howie Mandel called "a hit" and Simon Cowell agreed with. Also featured: a father-son country band from Michigan, a group of police officers performing as a mariachi band, a German contortionist who overcame two years of paralysis, and a returning Howie Mandel impersonator dressed as the devil — plus one of the season's more polarizing auditions.

NEW YORK CITY - Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons spring to life as they are inflated the day before they float through the canyons of New York. The event is held on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, surrounding the American Museum of Natural History, where the balloons are laid out and inflated along West 77th to West 81st Streets between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue. Visitors can walk past some of the parade’s biggest stars such as Snoopy, Bluey, Pikachu, Pac-Man, and more while crews inflate and secure them for the big day. Expect large crowds, especially later in the afternoon and evening, as excitement builds.
The 99th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will return to the streets of Manhattan and television screens of millions this Thursday, Nov. 27, ushering in the 2025 holiday season.
Macy's organizers keep the nearly century-old tradition fresh by adding new features each parade, usually based on recent pop culture moments and fan-favorite properties. Seven new floats, including a Labubu-themed one, will make their debut in 2025, along with five new balloon characters. Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker of NBC's "Today" show will return as telecast hosts

In this full-length interview, one of the greatest R&B singer/songwriters of all time, Smokey Robinson, details his upbringing in Detroit, where he lived in a packed house. He spoke about being one of 11 kids in the house, most of whom were his nieces and nephews who, due to closeness in age, were more like his siblings. He also discussed his father’s journey out of Selma, Alabama, into Detroit after stabbing a white kid who bullied him for years and fleeing town at only 12 years old. Moving along, the legendary R&B singer recalls starting a vocal group in elementary school and later forming his first official band, The Five Chimes. He goes on to explain what inspired the group's inception before saying that they eventually evolved into The Miracles. As the discussion continues, he talks about growing up with a young Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin as his childhood neighbors.Later, Smokey Robinson talks about growing up in Detroit when many of his friends were dabbling in criminal mischief and gang activity. He also talks about the experience of his former group, The Matadors, auditioning for Jackie Wilson's manager. The Motown legend explains that although the audition didn't go for the group, it served as his personal introduction to Barry Gordy, Jackie Wilson's primary songwriter. As the conversation nears an end, he looks back on the first time he retired, the events leading up to recording his first album, being the Vice President of Motown Records. He also shares his thoughts on Michael Jackson's early releases as a solo artist before touching on his friendship with the late Rick James and the tragic murder of Marvin Gaye.
